IJS (Jožef Stefan Institute) is the leading Slovenian scientific research institute, covering a broad spectrum of basic and applied research including physics, chemistry and biochemistry, electronics and information science, nuclear technology, energy utilization and environmental science. 

Research expertise

IJS brings extensive experience in HPC, including involvement in EuroHPC’s procurement of peta and pre-exascale systems, optimization, parallelization and scaling techniques, benchmarking and deployment. IJS focuses on production and control technologies, communication and computer technologies, knowledge technologies, biotechnologies, new materials, environmental technologies, nanotechnologies, and nuclear engineering. 

Tasks in MaX

IJS brings its experience in the area of materials modelling, including implementing the PWTK scripting interface and involvement with QUANTUM ESPRESSO codes and QUANTUM ESPRESSO Foundation. IJS will be involved in WPs 3 and 4 and will also contribute to the training activities in WP5.
