SISSA

Institution

SISSA is a scientific center based in Trieste. Its Condensed-Matter Theory group, led by Stefano Baroni, is considered to be the cradle of computer simulation of materials in Italy.

Research expertise

SISSA is the birthplace of the QUANTUM ESPRESSO project. The research background is mostly in software engineering for materials simulation. In addition, the wide expertise of the scientists provided high level contributions in solving materials simulation problems in the field of theoretical spectroscopy.

Tasks in MaX

Beside being the main developer of QUANTUM ESPRESSO, another very relevant contribution by SISSA in MaX is the development of tools to perform data analytics on large sets of simulation outcomes or database search.
