MaX will participate in the upcoming workshop “The determination of Hubbard parameters: progress, pitfalls, and prospects”, which will take place from 22 to 26 September 2025 in Gandia, Spain.
The event will gather leading researchers in density-functional theory (DFT) and its extensions to address one of the most critical challenges in the DFT+U approach: the accurate determination of Hubbard parameters. Sessions will cover theoretical foundations, computational methods, and recent developments, including linear-response theory, constrained random phase approximation, Hartree–Fock-based methods, and machine learning approaches.
MaX will contribute to the scientific programme with a talk by Eric Macke (University of Bremen) entitled “Hubbard manifolds in DFT+U: Are we getting them right?”.
The workshop aims to compare different approaches, identify their strengths and limitations, and work towards common strategies for consistent and reliable determination of Hubbard parameters. It will also provide a platform for exchange of ideas, fostering collaboration in the field of materials modelling and high-performance computing.
