A new MaX is starting
Let us meet on February 21 and 22 in Modena (IT) to officially start working on the new phase of MaX. MaX is the Centre of Excellence funded by the EuroHPC JU. It continues the tradition and strenghts of previous MaX taking materials design to the exascale and beyond.
The meeting will be held in AGO Modena Fabbriche Culturali and FEM - Future Education Modena premises, an historical building devoted to new generations and their education (Largo di Porta Sant’Agostino 228).

The San Paolo Complex, which dates back to 1192, was made up of two churches, a nuns’ convent run by the Augustinian Order, and one of the most charming inner courtyard of Modena: Cortile del Leccio. In the east wing of the complex, which stands around the amazing Cortile del Leccio, are university spaces dedicated to the Law Faculty library and the Centre for Documentation and EU Research.
A smaller courtyard, called "Cortile del Banano", hosts Major Tom.

In 1997 the Modena Cathedral, Torre Civica and Piazza Grande have been declared UNESCO World Heritage.

The Modena complex bears exceptional witness to the cultural traditions of the 12th century and is one of the best examples of an architectural complex where religious and civic values are combined in a medieval Christian town”.

How to reach Modena
By Plane
The closest airport to Modena is Bologna’s Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ).
The “Aerbus” service connects the Bologna Airport with the center of Modena (a fifty-minute ride). Aerbus timetable from Bologna Airport to Modena.
The Marconi Express monorail connects Bologna Airport to the Bologna train station in seven minutes. Frequent trains for Modena depart from there.
Tipically a taxi fare from Bologna airport to Modena costs €100.
By Train
The Modena train station is in Piazza Dante Alighieri and serves the Milan-Bologna line.

Getting to the historical center from the train station
The train station is only a few minutes walk from the historical center. Alternatively, the Number 7 bus (marked Policlinico/Gottardi) reaches the Cathedral in nine minutes (get off at the Piazza Mazzini stop) and the Number 11 bus (marked Zodiaco) arrives at the Cathedral in seven minutes (Piazza Mazzini stop).
As you leave the station, a taxi stand is located on the right side of Piazza Dante.
There are two luggage-storage offices nearby the station.
By Car
Modena is easily reached via two exits on the A1 Highway: the Modena Nord exit (five kilometers from the city center) and the Modena Sud exit (ten kilometers from the city center). The A22 Brennero Highway also ends in Modena.
