Held in Amsterdam on October 22-23 2024, the Second EuroHPC User Day 2024 brought together the EuroHPC user community to showcase the EuroHPC projects utilizing European supercomputing resources. Hosted by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and the EuroCC Netherlands, this second annual event provided an immersive experience, featuring plenaries and parallel sessions, as well as special sessions for users where to discuss best practices, challenges, and the evolving needs of the HPC community.
Together with other CoEs, MaX hosted a special session for users called “Walk-in networking sessions focusing on specific EuroHPC user needs: provide your feedback and get some advice.”(October 23, between 10:30-12:00 am). The special session featured the interventions of MaX Coordinator Elisa Molinari (CNR-Nano and UNIMORE) and Ivan Carnimeo (SISSA) as representatives of MaX. During the session, Molinari and Carnimeo (SISSA) presented the latest results of the MaX lighthouse codes in achieving performance and scaling on different EuroHPC architectures. Over its three funding phases, MaX has provided the utmost expertise in materials science, together with efficient performance and reliability of its lighthouse codes. Special effort has been dedicated into delivering user support services and trainings designed to meet the user’s needs, from beginners to experienced professionals. The Second EuroHPC User Day was the opportunity for MaX to connect with the EuroHPC community and showcase the latest achievements of its codes, gather feedback from MaX codes’ end-users, and engage with potential new users. The two-day event offered a platform for experts, researchers, and industry professionals to exchange ideas, share advancements, and discuss strategies for a more effective use of HPC capabilities in the EuroHPC ecosystem.
